Like others, you will hear many rumors about where and when you could get pregnant. For some women, the thought of getting pregnant is met with great joy and anticipation, while for others it’s a cause of worry.
This is why most women in the reproductive age or the ones who are trying desperately to conceive will have many questions or doubts about their chances of conceiving.
We will look further at this below to help you understand more about unprotected sex and pregnancy.
What’s the Chance of Getting Pregnant If You Had Unprotected Sex
There is a good chance that you could get pregnant nearly any time that you engage in sexual intercourse without using an effective birth control. This scenario is familiar to most women.
Pregnancy usually occurs around the ovulation period, the time when your ovary releases egg in the fallopian tube. If you are having regular periods, ovulation will take place midway between your menstrual periods.
Ovulation usually happens midway between the first-day of 2 consecutive periods, but this can vary from the eight day to the twentieth day of a 28-day cycle.
Researchers calculate the average risk at varying times in a monthly cycle of a woman, but you should know that your risk can be lower or higher.
You cannot know the definite time of your ovulation, which is why the researchers use the monthly cycle of a woman when calculating the average risk for pregnancy.
Figuring Out the Chances of Getting Pregnant If You Had Unprotected Sex
You are more likely to conceive if you have unprotected sex during the middle 2 weeks of your cycle. The time varies, but many women ovulate about day 14.
You will have the highest risk of pregnancy by having unprotected sex one or two days before your ovulation starts; when the ovary releases the egg.
This is a 30% chance. The risk of having unprotected sex and getting pregnant three days prior to ovulation is 15%. You will have a 12% chance on the ovulation day. [1]

This is because you will have a much lower risk of getting pregnant if you engage in any sexual relations on the ovulation day and any day besides the three days prior to.
Not Getting Pregnant After Having Unprotected Sex for Months

Thankfully, there are certain things that you could do to increase your chances if it’s taking longer than expected for you to conceive.
This includes doing thinks like monitoring your ovulation, using an ovulation predictor kit, charting your basal body temperature, as well as checking and observing your cervical mucus.
When you have an idea of your ovulating time, you can start to time your sexual activities around that period. If you are using this method, you must ensure that you are having sex 2 days before your ovulation day or every other day during the week of your expected ovulation. This will boost your chances of conceiving.
If it’s a case where you have been engaging in unprotected sexual activities for more than six months without success, you could visit your doctor or ob/gyn to know about the alternative treatments that you could use for fertility problems. There are several solutions available and they are very effective.

My period ended on Jan 19 my bf and I had unprotected sex on the 20th, 21st and 22nd and he ejaculated in me what’s my chance of getting pregnant?
I am 18 years old. I’ve always been extremely irregular in my menstrual cycle with no clear set cycle dates. My periods are usually very short (1-3 days), very heavy (super-plus tampons when available), and extremely painful for a few hours a day while menstruating. I received my period on September 9-11, October 16-17, and November 15-18, which is the most regular I have ever been. I forgot to mark down my date for December!!! (It was either 10-11 or 18-19.) My boyfriend and I have been having unprotected sex for about four months without issue, and although I know the “pull-out method” isn’t real, we’ve never come close to accidentally pulling out too late and I’ve never been concerned. I went through an extremely stressful time with my family and with my university around January 8-13. It is now January 27 and I haven’t gotten my period. I don’t believe I have any tell-tale signs of pregnancy (morning sickness, heightened smell, breast soreness, etc.) except having a period MIA for January. I’m not even sure when I should have been expecting it if I could! Should I be worried or can I most likely write this off to stress and hormones?
Hi, it could be stress, but i think you should take a pregnancy test to be sure
Had unprotected sex the 25th, he did not cum in me, ended period about January 5, could I be pregnant?

Help please. My periods have been very regular for almost 2 years with 28 day cycle. I had my last period on the 18th of December and my partner and i had unprotected sex once on the 29th of December. Using a ovulation calculater online i was meant to be ovulating on the 1st of January. My next period was due on the 15th of January but i am nearly 12 days late (very unusual) with negative pregnancy tests. I have been doing everything correctly but i was just wondering if i could still be pregnant? I haven’t been doing anything differently or under any more stress or excessive exercise or change in diet. Please help!
Hello, A lot of things can affect your period being late but it’s always possible to become pregnant after unprotected sex sometimes you can still be pregnant even with negative pregnancy tests. Hi,Well since you got your period i would not worry too much about being pregnant unless you have unprotected sex again after your period. It is possible to be pregnant but it would be very rare.
Hi, I had my period January 16th and I’ve been having unprotected sex since coming off my period January 21st. The whole weekend my boyfriend and I were intimate. We use the pull out method and he said it hasn’t been perfect ( meaning some still got inside me) what’s my chances of becoming pregnant? I don’t chart or anything so I don’t know when I ovulate. All the online calculators say I should be fertile and ovulating starting tomorrow until February 2nd.
Hello, It very likely that you may be pregnant all you can do now is wait and take a pregnancy test to find out.
Me and my bf had sex without protection on 24 dec 2015 and it was my periods date, after 30 hours I took a pill. Is there any chance of pregnancy?
Hi, The emergency pill works up to 72 hrs after unprotected sex it can also delay your period or even let it come sooner,it can fail like many contraceptives but its rare so most likely you are not pregnant.you can take a pregnancy test to confirm it though but i think you are safe.
