If you want to know what’s the chance of getting pregnant if you had unprotected sex you have come to the right place.
Like others, you will hear many rumors about where and when you could get pregnant. For some women, the thought of getting pregnant is met with great joy and anticipation, while for others it’s a cause of worry.
This is why most women in the reproductive age or the ones who are trying desperately to conceive will have many questions or doubts about their chances of conceiving.
We will look further at this below to help you understand more about unprotected sex and pregnancy.
What’s the Chance of Getting Pregnant If You Had Unprotected Sex
There is a good chance that you could get pregnant nearly any time that you engage in sexual intercourse without using an effective birth control. This scenario is familiar to most women.
Pregnancy usually occurs around the ovulation period, the time when your ovary releases egg in the fallopian tube. If you are having regular periods, ovulation will take place midway between your menstrual periods.
Ovulation usually happens midway between the first-day of 2 consecutive periods, but this can vary from the eight day to the twentieth day of a 28-day cycle.
Researchers calculate the average risk at varying times in a monthly cycle of a woman, but you should know that your risk can be lower or higher.
You cannot know the definite time of your ovulation, which is why the researchers use the monthly cycle of a woman when calculating the average risk for pregnancy.
Figuring Out the Chances of Getting Pregnant If You Had Unprotected Sex
You are more likely to conceive if you have unprotected sex during the middle 2 weeks of your cycle. The time varies, but many women ovulate about day 14.
You will have the highest risk of pregnancy by having unprotected sex one or two days before your ovulation starts; when the ovary releases the egg.
This is a 30% chance. The risk of having unprotected sex and getting pregnant three days prior to ovulation is 15%. You will have a 12% chance on the ovulation day. [1]

In the real world, large studies show that women who engage in unprotected sex during mid-cycle have a much lower chance of getting pregnant as the risk is around 5.8%.
This is because you will have a much lower risk of getting pregnant if you engage in any sexual relations on the ovulation day and any day besides the three days prior to.
Not Getting Pregnant After Having Unprotected Sex for Months
There are times when having unprotected sex is not enough for you to get pregnant. You could be doing this for months with no luck.
Thankfully, there are certain things that you could do to increase your chances if it’s taking longer than expected for you to conceive.
This includes doing thinks like monitoring your ovulation, using an ovulation predictor kit, charting your basal body temperature, as well as checking and observing your cervical mucus.
When you have an idea of your ovulating time, you can start to time your sexual activities around that period. If you are using this method, you must ensure that you are having sex 2 days before your ovulation day or every other day during the week of your expected ovulation. This will boost your chances of conceiving.
If it’s a case where you have been engaging in unprotected sexual activities for more than six months without success, you could visit your doctor or ob/gyn to know about the alternative treatments that you could use for fertility problems. There are several solutions available and they are very effective.
How to Know When You Get Pregnant
The most common sign of pregnancy after unprotected sex is missed period. However, this missed or late period is not a sure sign as there are many other things that can cause it besides pregnancy.
This includes using birth control that contains hormones, stress, sickness, improper eating habits, or too much exercise.
It is pretty common for teens to have periods which come later than normal or missed periods because it could take several years for them to have a regular cycle.

Okay so i had protected sex Saturday the 16th of this month and i had sex (unprotected sex) Friday the 22nd of this month and yes he ejaculated inside of me and my last period was April 27th so what are the chances of me getting pregnant ? I’m 17 years old trying to get pregnant.

I had sex on the 16th and 17th of this month, I ovulated on the 19th. Though the first sperm was not released in me just the second and third. what are my chances of being pregnant?
Hi Bisi. If you are very sure of your ovulation date then you actually have the best chance of being pregnant. During a woman’s cycle, the best chance to conceive is to have sex one to two days before ovulation and again on the day you ovulate. That way, there’s more likely to be a healthy supply of sperm waiting in the fallopian tube when an egg is released. It doesn’t matter how many times he ejaculates, once his sperm are released inside you at any point, conception is always possible. If you didn’t want to become pregnant, a morning after pill would’ve helped to off-set the chances of pregnancy but if you wish to be pregnant, best of luck, your chances are high.
Me and my bf had unprotected sex a day before my menstruation .
This day is my expected period.
Im scared cos my menstruation didn’t come this day.
Is there a possibility that I’m pregnant?
Hey my last period was April 28 I had unprotected sex May 4, I came on my cycle May 18 which was early is there any chance that I might be pregnant
If you are on an average 28 day cycle, that means your period was more than a week early which isn’t normal. Your next period would’ve been due on May 26th. If you had sex on the 4th of May, with a possible 5 day window for conception (that’s how long the sperm may stay in the body) and you find out you are pregnant then you may have conceived between May 4th and May 9th, then had some implantation bleeding between May 15th and May 21st. If this bleeding that occurred on the 18th was lighter than usual, you may have mistaken it for a normal period and thus be pregnant. If it’s your normal heavy flow then you should be ok but still take a pregnancy test or see your doctor to be sure and notify him that your period was quite early.
My last menstrual was on April 17, 2015, and it ended on April 20th, 2015. After my menstrual ended I had unprotected sex various times in the following days, on May 3rd, early in the morning again i had unprotected sex ,but I decided to get the morning after pill and took it right away within 12 -14 hours after unprotected sex, I’m not sure if it works or not due to the chances of being already pregnant due to unprotected sex that occurred days after my period on April 20, 2015. I am 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant, so my question is did I get pregnant before May 3rd or before May 3rd 2015
my ovulation supposedly ended on the 17th and I had unprotected sex on the 17th… it was stupid and I don’t want to be pregnant… what are my chances?
If you are pretty sure that’s when it ended then you are still at risk for pregnancy even up to the final day. You should take a pregnancy test and see your doctor to confirm that you are not pregnant. Be sure to use some form of birth control in order to be safer on future occasions as unprotected sex will always put you at risk.
My Last Period Day Was May.06,2015..And I Had Unprotected Sex On May.08-10,2015..What Are The Possibilities Of Me Being Pregnant ?
If you mean that your period ended on May 6th, the chances of pregnancy are very slim because you haven’t even started ovulating yet (that is if you are on an average 28-32 day cycle – you would be more than a week away from ovulating so while it’s not impossible, it’s definitely not likely). If you meant that it started on May 6th, your chances are even slimmer to conceive during a period.
Hi
i had a endreometriosis cyst operation on 28 April 2015. On 8th may 2015 , i had unprotected sex. We are planning to conceive. So from 2 -3 days I am fond of spicy food. Specially green chillies and at the same time i am having an itching issue. My whole body itches and I don’t know whats the reason behind this. Need help… i want to know whether it is the symptoms of pregnancy or something else. Coz me and my hubby are excited to know. It’s getting hard to wait till my menstrual date.
HI,
do not rush to get pregnant, your body needs to recover from your surgery. Avoid complication related to a too early pregnancy. Being itchy is not a pregnancy symptom, if you are planning to conceive, please adjust your diet accordingly and take folic acid supplement.
Good luck
I had my period on the 11th of this month, and I had sex during my period. is it possible for me to get pregnant?
Hi , yes it is possible to get pregnant while having your period if you ovulate more then once a month.
Good luck
