What’s the Chance of Getting Pregnant If You Had Unprotected Sex
There is a good chance that you could get pregnant nearly any time that you engage in sexual intercourse without using an effective birth control. This scenario is familiar to most women.
Pregnancy usually occurs around the ovulation period, the time when your ovary releases egg in the fallopian tube. If you are having regular periods, ovulation will take place midway between your menstrual periods.
Ovulation usually happens midway between the first-day of 2 consecutive periods, but this can vary from the eight day to the twentieth day of a 28-day cycle.
Researchers calculate the average risk at varying times in a monthly cycle of a woman, but you should know that your risk can be lower or higher.
You cannot know the definite time of your ovulation, which is why the researchers use the monthly cycle of a woman when calculating the average risk for pregnancy.
Figuring Out the Chances of Getting Pregnant If You Had Unprotected Sex
You are more likely to conceive if you have unprotected sex during the middle 2 weeks of your cycle. The time varies, but many women ovulate about day 14.
You will have the highest risk of pregnancy by having unprotected sex one or two days before your ovulation starts; when the ovary releases the egg.
This is a 30% chance. The risk of having unprotected sex and getting pregnant three days prior to ovulation is 15%. You will have a 12% chance on the ovulation day. [1]

This is because you will have a much lower risk of getting pregnant if you engage in any sexual relations on the ovulation day and any day besides the three days prior to.
Not Getting Pregnant After Having Unprotected Sex for Months

Thankfully, there are certain things that you could do to increase your chances if it’s taking longer than expected for you to conceive.
This includes doing thinks like monitoring your ovulation, using an ovulation predictor kit, charting your basal body temperature, as well as checking and observing your cervical mucus.
When you have an idea of your ovulating time, you can start to time your sexual activities around that period. If you are using this method, you must ensure that you are having sex 2 days before your ovulation day or every other day during the week of your expected ovulation. This will boost your chances of conceiving.

I got the implant in four days ago and had unprotected sex three days after getting it. Could there be a possibility of me being pregnant? Please help
Since no contraceptive is 100% safe, there’s is always a small chance for pregnancy to occur. However, you don’t have much to worry about because once you put the implant in your arm it is immediately effective so by 3 days later, it would’ve already started working.
Hello..the last day of my period is may 15,2015 and I had unprotected sex on may 24 and June 3,2015, but on june 4 i take 2 pcs of cortal with coke in the morning before breakfast. Is there any chance to get pregnant! Please I need your advice
Hi. I had unprotected sex on the 13th day of my cycle on the 27th of May and he swore to God he didn’t ejaculate in me and he manage to pull out before he ejaculated so he basically did that outside… I now have cramping and brown-blood discharge… Can i be pregnant? Do I have a high risk of getting pregnant?
Yes, you’re knocked up
Hello. I have a question. My husband and I had unprotected sex during my ovulation day and on the next day, the 16th and 17th of May and got my period on the 30 of May. Can I still get pregnant?
So my partner and I had unprotected sex. We did it the days before my ovulation and also after. We want to get pregnant. Today I was supposed to start my period but it hasn’t came….. Is there a chance I am pregnant?
I had unprotected sex on May 8th. My period should’ve came on May 27th-28th. It’s now the end of May and nothing happened. Should I be worried? Should I take a test?
If you’re absolutely sure about the dates, give it a few more days to see if it will come. Sometimes a woman’s cycle will change at various times and come a bit sooner or later than expected. If a week passes and you haven’t had your period, take a test!
I had unprotected sex a few times on the night of the 8th of May. My previous period before this was the 1st of April, however, I have had a period since on the 21st-24th of this month!
Is there any chance of me being pregnant or does the period mean that I’m not?
Hi i have a unprotected sex with my bf on the 10th-14th of May. He didn’t ejaculate in me but he did outside of me every time. He said he wiped it off and i also go to the washroom immediately and washed my bottom area. The pregnancy test also showed negative. Now i’m having my period just two days ago and still having it but I’m just curious if there is any possible way I could be pregnant? Any help would be appreciated.
There’s a general rule – once you have unprotected sex, there’s always a chance for pregnancy, even if he didn’t ejaculate inside you. Pre-ejaculation (which happens before ejaculation) can contain sperm especially when you’re having sex one day after the next because sperm can survive even up to 5 days and possibly a week after unprotected sex. Pre-ejaculation itself doesn’t contain sperm but when it comes out in the urethra, the sperm left there from previous intercourse can get into it and possible cause pregnancy since they’re still alive so please be aware of that. If you’re period came and the flow is normal along with the number of days you normally see your period, it’s likely you have nothing to worry about and the chances of pregnancy are much lower but never impossible. If you’re not ready to conceive, it’s always best to use some form of protection in the future.
My period ended May 12th, had unprotected sex May 25/26, followed by light vaginal bleeding the next two days, with very light bleeding the third, any thoughts on why?
Hi Selena. There’s no sure way t tell what that was. It could’ve been bleeding as a result of sexual intercourse or it could’ve been your period coming really early but do not ignore it. Either way, please see your doctor for an examination and evaluation. He/She would be better able to tell you what caused that bleeding.
I had unprotected sex last week and he ejaculated inside me. I had the morning after pill within 6 hours and it’s been almost 10 days and I have not bled. Do you think I’m pregnant?
Based on the ovulation calculator my fertile days are from May 16th to May 21st. I have a 30 day menstrual cycle. Me and my husband had unprotected sex on the 18th of May onwards. I’m asking if there is the biggest chance that i can get pregnant because we really want to have a baby.
Hey. The first day of my last period was May 14. I have a regular 28 day cycle, and I had unprotected sex on the 24 & 25 of May. He didn’t ejaculate in me but he did outside of me 3 times! He said he wiped it off but I’m just curious if there is any possible way I could be pregnant? Any help would be appreciated.
I had unprotected sex with my gf and I was only in for 1-2 min and I want to know the possibility of her getting pregnant and we only had sex 1 day ago so can anyone help me please?
Hi there. There’s a common misconception that if you don’t stay inside or have intercourse too long then the female wont get pregnant. This is not true. It doesn’t matter how long you were inside when having sex. If it was unprotected, there’s always a chance of pregnancy. If you didn’t ejaculate inside her, the chances are lower but your ‘pre-ejaculation’ may have contained sperm so that could also get a female pregnant. The best way to lessen her chances of pregnancy is if she took a morning-after pill. Best of luck.
Yes! It DOESN’T MATTER HOW LONG you were inside of her, she could be pregnant. Any form of unprotected sex could lead to a possible pregnancy, whether you entered her for 10, 20, 30 minutes or 60 seconds, it doesn’t matter. Her chances depend greatly on where she is in her cycle though. If she is 14 days away from her next scheduled period, the chances are high and it’s probably best if she had taken a morning after pill to lessen her chances of pregnancy. If it happened right before or right after her period, the chances are a bit lower at that point. Always use protection if you’re trying to avoid having a child.
Hi guys thank you for the feed back I really appreciate it. My cycle is 26 days. My period started on the 5th Of May and stopped by the 8th. The following Saturday was when I ovulated which was also when I had unprotected INTERCOURSE then exactly a week later I had slight CRAMPING and back ache. My period is due in a few days .
Your next period was due on the 31st of May and you were scheduled to ovulate on the 17th. Your best time to conceive was between the 15th and 19th of May so yes, there is a high chance you could be pregnant if you haven’t seen your period even now.
My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex on May 22, 23, & 24. The end of my last period was May 17th. I have already been feeling almost all pregnancy symptoms so what are my chances of actually being pregnant and when should I contact my doctor to get in?
Based on a regular 28 day cycle, yes there’s a chance you could be pregnant. See your doctor soon.
Hi, I had sex on the 15th of May. My last month period date is 15th. Still i didn’t get my period. Usually i will get period on every 28th day cycle. From May 15 , once again i got sex on the 17th & 19th 2 times per day. When do i need to take a pregnancy test ? Is it a good time? What chance is there to get pregnant?
Hi Kavitha. If you got your period on May 15th then you would be ok, your chances of pregnancy would be very low but if you’re saying you haven’t had a period since April 15th then you should definitely take one now because it would’ve been due 2 weeks ago. Also set an appointment with your doctor right away for confirmation.
