Implantation is a critical step in the process of conception that isn’t always spoken of or understood. While it’s absolutely vital to get right, many hopeful parents aren’t educated on the subject and so they’re missing out on the key to getting pregnant.
While the intricate details of implantation aren’t fully known, we have developed a calculator to help pinpoint the most likely days to achieve implantation during your menstrual cycle -> CLICK HERE to go straight to the calculator.

What is Implantation?
Implantation is the end product after the sperm comes into contact with the egg and fertilizes it. This is called a zygote. It then travels to the uterus where it attaches itself into the uterine lining [1].
This is the process, and without implantation, pregnancy is not possible and the body will naturally eliminate it during your next cycle.

Possible Signs of Implantation
After implantation occurs, it’s normal to see some light bleeding or spotting. This is actually from the embryo attaching to the uterine wall and is nothing to be concerned with. It’s actually a good sign! However, this is not a necessity.
Not all women experience implantation bleeding or cramping. This can happen roughly 10 to 14 days after conception, and implantation bleeding is generally significantly lighter than a regular period [2].
Some might also start to notice the very first signs of pregnancy at this point such as breast soreness and fatigue [3]. Additional symptoms that you might notice other than the obvious of a missed period, could be moodiness, aversions to certain foods, bloating, and nasal congestion and even constipation [1].
As you notice, some of these are very similar to those of PMS so noticing them might not even happen until you get a positive and can link the two.
The hormone levels increase right away and this is your body changing to start to accommodate a new life and help it grow.
Implantation Timing
The timeframe for implantation is anywhere from seven to twelve days after ovulation, however generally occurs right around day nine [5].
Once this process has occurred some of the most sensitive pregnancy tests can determine pregnancy, but sometimes it takes another day or so. Which is why it’s recommended to wait until a missed period to take a pregnancy test [1].
After implantation has occurred, the body starts to produce the pregnancy hormone, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) [4]. For pregnancies that last more than six weeks, the first appearance of hCG occurred 6 to 12 days after ovulation; 118 women (84 percent) had implantation on day 8, 9, or 10 [5].
Calculating the days of your cycle, ovulation, and the most likely days for the embryo to implant can be confusing. If you are having trouble conceiving, using an ovulation or implantation calculator to get the best estimate for your most fertile period can be helpful in getting pregnant.
It can also put your mind at ease to calculate your implantation dates so if you see light bleeding, you’ll know if it’s possibly related to the embryo implanting rather than your next period or a miscarriage.
But, just be aware that many times implantation bleeding happens around the time of your next period.
How To Use The Implantation Calculator
The calculator is simple to use and just like the most of the other calculators available to you, the only information you need to know is the day you started your last period and the typical length of your cycle.
Once you plug in those numbers, the calculator will give you several dates that are important for you to know when trying to conceive:
Estimated Fertile Period – This is the range of dates that you’re most likely to be fertile or in other words when an egg is most likely to be released from the Fallopian tubes.
Implantation – This is the range of dates that, if an embryo was formed and it united with sperm and was fertilized, it would likely make it to the uterus to implant itself in the wall.
Most Likely Date Range – Most implantation occurs on days 8 to 10, so this is the range of the most likely days for implantation according to when 84% of women experience it.
Once the calculator is finished, you’ll have your date ranges as well as a chart that shows you the days past ovulation (DPO) with the highest probability of implantation.
This information is helpful to look at so you can pinpoint the possible cause of any cramping or bleeding you may experience that could be related to implantation of an embryo.
To Conclude
It’s important to note that the calculator only provides an estimation of your ovulation and implantation dates according to the information provided. This means that if you aren’t accurate with your LMP you might not get an accurate result.
It can also be skewed if you have an irregular period in which the length of your cycle isn’t the same every month or varies significantly.
If that is the case, then the recommendation would be to speak with your doctor about the possibility of helping to regulate your cycle.
In addition, if you’ve been trying to conceive for longer than six months with no success, it may be a good idea to talk to a doctor and work together to form a plan for conception. This, in conjunction with the calculator, could help you determine what your symptoms are actually due to.

Hi My last period was on March 05 2018 it lasted for seven days so I’ m 31 cycle and I haven’t gotten a period for April so am one week late and I took seven pregnancy tests and they all came bck negative so can I still be pregnant still
Hi there Ashirra, retest for pregnancy in 7 days.
Good day, I have had irregular periods for 6 years, I cant find any calculator for what I need to know.
My last period was on October 1(1st day) to October 4 2017. Since the night I stopped, me and hubby tried to conceive, on October 13 I had implantation spotting, on November 1st I did a blood test that showed 4 weeks pregnant, on November 16 I did my 1st scan and was still on time showing 6 weeks pregnant, But at my 12 week appointment it start losing track, showed 11 weeks pregnant. On my 22 week visit my dr calculated the dates to take for my G/O and told me with the dates showing on scan I had my period October 15. Then at G/O I told him the dates are not correct, but when I went to my 26 week appointment last week the G/O told me I am 25 weeks and my due date is July 23, but I know the due date might be around July 5 to 12. My G/O is like 1 hour away from where I am so I am worried that I might go into unexpected labor, because my 2nd baby arrived within 30min from my water broke 6 years ago. This is my 3rd pregnancy. I dont know my cycle length because some time I would miss months or weeks before I started every period. Do you think the G/O date is correct or should I go on my dates that I am absolutely am sure of and not their guessing dates? Thank you
Hi Ilse, first congratulations. Secondly, I would go by the scans and the growth of the baby, but considering you were irregular just plan for being early. it seems like you are measuring a week behind and that could be right if you had the irregular periods that you state. They aren’t guessing if they are doing ultrasounds, they are looking based on your last menstrual period and then by the size of the baby. While it can be off depending on if the baby is developing correctly I would go by that. But always be prepared for when your new addition is ready to make their appearance because they tend, as you know, to work on their own schedule.
Thank you so much, because G/O wants to induce at 39 weeks, because of the far travelling reason, but I think it will be to late and might not make it, maybe just some pregnancy worries and stressing of birth getting closer.
I would say normal pregnancy jitters. If you don’t make it and you go into labor naturally, then that’s awesome. But also being scheduled for induction isn’t a bad thing either. You’ll be fine! Good luck with the birth and your newest addition to your family!
Hi being TTC had my last periods on 12-3-2018 have irregular and shoter cycle of 25 to 26 days this month my periods were late in a day 7-4-2018 but were light and dark brown turning black lasted for two days and usually my periods goes for 4 to 5days could it be implatation bleading
Hi there Aisha, there is a possibility that this could be implantation bleeding, yes.
Hi
I had my last period Feb 19..ovulated between March 11 and March 17…my period was due march 19 it never came. March 23 i went to the market and was carrying some really heavy bags. March 24 woke up to light bleeding and cramps on and off. March 25 by midday it was gone. Tested twice with negative results. Today april 2 am still having all pregnancy symptoms. Could i be pregnant?
Hi Jenny, while you still would be considered late if you didn’t get your period at this point, your calculations for ovulating seem a bit off. You ovulate and then it take about another 14 days for your period (that’s why it’s called the two week wait when trying to conceive). Check out the calculator at the link afterwards to check your dates. But if you aren’t getting your period I would take another test or if you are concerned, make an appointment with your doctor. Here is the link: https://womanjunction.com
My period was Feb 26. , I had unprotected sex the 1,2,4,6,9,10,12,13,14,15,19,and 25th… Been spotting all day pink/light red and only when I wipe. I have a 34 day cycle, not due for period until the 1st and I’ve taken a 6 day sooner test this morning and it was negative. Can I still be pregnant?
Hi Erin, You could still be pregnant. I would wait until you miss you period to take another test.
Hello , I Had My Last Period Feb 16 – Feb 19 I Had Sex Feb 24 &25 & Mar 1,4,6,7,12 & 14.I Have 30 day cycles and Havent gotten my period for this month yet. I took a Pregnancy Test this morning with first morning wee Which Came Out Negative What do You Think ?
Hi Samantha, according to the Menstural Cycle Calculator You are almost a week late. I would consider if you’ve had any changes, stress, significant weight gain/loss, medications, in the past month that could be the cause. Otherwise I would give it another day or so and then take another test. If you are concerned I would head out to the doctor for a blood test.
Hello! Im new here but heres my story. My last full period was Feb. 9, 2018. I went off Feb. 10, 2018. My periods are very irregular and i keep track of them but somehow this month my period was due March 10, 2018. Instead on March 12, 2018. I get very light bleeding, it look pinkish/red. The flow was not normal even doe sometimes i do have 1 day period every 1 month out of a whole year. I took a PT on March 11, 2018 and got a NEGATIVE. I also tested on March 15, 2018 and got a NEGATIVE. Im not sure if im pregnant or what caused my period to be like this. I need help!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Shakelia, It sounds as though you have one days periods more often than once a year. If you are having periods like this then that seems normal after reading what you wrote. However if you normally have irregular periods you’ll have to discuss with you doctor what your options are.
Hello please help.
I’m always finding it difficult to calculate my next period date please help
I saw my period on the 11th of February so now when will be my next period date…thanks
Hi Emediong, it depends on how long your cycle is. Average is 28 days. So if you saw your period on the 11th of February you could see it again on roughly on March 11th. But that is assuming that you have a regular cycle, generally get it around the same time each month. It’s best to track it regularly to determine how often you would get it and when you would get it next. Try using the calculator at https://womanjunction.com And you can see the next few months as well.
Hello! I’m freaking out right now because my last cycle was 1/27/18 and I did not have my cycle at all in February… Me and my boyfriend just had intercourse on 3/4/18 and afterwards when I went to use the restroom there was blood on the tissue… Could I be pregnant or what is happening? I have 3 kids and the only time I ever missed my period for a whole month is being pregnant… I need some answers… I have back pain, I have nausea, and my breast started hurting but I have taken 2 hpt and they were negative.
Hello Chiqutta, I would advise that you retest for pregnancy in 7 days.
My last period was on jan 31st 2018. Doc did 1st IUI on Feb 13 and 2nd on Feb 15.
On the 29th day of my cycle, that’s on 28 feb I got little spotting followed by less bleeding kind of on March 1 and March 2 -2018- Is this good symptom? March 1st (30th day) took UPT and that’s negative
my cycle differs from 30-32 days-any one ?
Hi Ammu, you could have been testing a little early. Depending on how much of the pregnancy hormone is in your body you might not know, but if the spotting was something abnormal rather than your regular period I would say that could be a good sign. Have you tested again yet?
My last period was on January 16th and my cycles are usually 31 days long. We had protected sex (used a condom) on January 26th. Today I am 11 days late. I’ve taken various HPTs and all were negative. On Monday and Tuesday i did notice some spotting. Could this be implantation bleeding? Or is it too late for that? My periods are usually pretty regular ao this is out of the ordinary.
Hi J, if you are usually regular, and you were pregnant that should have showed by the end of February at the latest. I would recommend taking another, and if you are not pregnant, determine if there were any changes in your life, stress, new birth control or lack thereof, changes in weight?
Im in a weird situation. My last period was on the 8th Jan 2018 and my husband and I DTD on the 20th and 22nd Jan and 4 days later I had very strong preg symptoms and I missed Feb period and having strong symptoms now whist writing this message. All HPT are showing faint positives. This has never hapened with my other 2 which are 4 and 5 now. I think I am now 20 days late and having such faint positives. Your response will be much appreciated.
Also like to add 3 days before period was supposed to come I had blood for 2 days and it wasnt spotting nor was it my usual monthly very heavy 5 day period. I also had 2 miscarriages after my kids both were last year. I went for my first ultrasound at 10 weeks but baby stopped growing at 8wks 3 days and then another at 7 wks. With my kids and the 2 m/c i had very strong positives at 8dpo so me being 20 days late is really making me worried 🙁
Hi Mara, Even a faint positive is a positive. Considering your history I would recommend making an appointment with you doctor as soon as possible to get checked on and start prenatal care. GOod luck and congratulations!
I have PCOS, i took provera and letrazole. My LMP was January 22,2018 and i was given a trigger shot February 12. I ovulated either that same night or the following morning because i went in to my RE on 2/13/18 and 23mm follicle was no longer there. Well its now Feb. 24 & no period but ive been having bloating, cramping, on and off sore right breat and sensitive nipples as wellas frequent urrination but hpt are negative
Hello Kimberly, test for pregnancy 7 days after a missed period.
I menstruate on the 11 of January and spot on the 9 of February can I take this as period or implantation bleeding because since then I have been having cramps tingly feeling inside my breast
Hi there Charity, this could be either. You have to watch what happens with you body and then determine if you need to take a pregnancy.
Hello , I Had My Last Period January 4 – January 10 I Had Sex January 11,14,16,19,21,25,25 I Spotted January 29- February 2 I Have 31 day cycles But Never Got My Period February 3 I’ve Taken Pregnancy Test Which Came Out Negative What do You Think ?
Hi there Nicole, I would recommend that you retake a pregnancy test 7 days after your missed period and try to use a more advanced pregnancy test as well.
I’m kinda at a loss right now I haven’t had my period since December 1st and it was normal lasted7 days anyways I haven’t had it since I had a brown Discharge last month instead of my period I have since done multiple test. (Blood and urine) Lol and all which where negative! Could I possibly still be pregnant? We had intercourse back in December on the 22nd all the way to the 1st week of January and still no period and no positive pregnancy test. The blood test came back at <2. So confused and left with no answers.
Hello Jackie, I would advise that you see your doctor for a physical to see what is happening, especially if this has never happened before.
