A male child is born when the female’s egg having X chromosome is combined with male’s Y chromosome (XY) containing sperm and likewise baby girl is born when X chromosome containing sperm fertilizes the egg(XX).

It is always important to calculate one’s ovulation to conceive, but it’s even more important if you are trying to get pregnant with a baby of a particular sex.

Y chromosome sperms usually swim faster than the X chromosome one, but they are not able to survive by themselves and will burn out very fast.

It was previously thought that Y chromosome containing sperms swim faster than the X chromosome containing ones [2], but it has been proved wrong now after observing their motility in computer assisted sperm analysis (CASA) [2].

Y chromosome containing sperms certainly doesn’t swim faster than X chromosome ones [3].

One of the other tips on how to conceive a boy is that you should not have sex two to three days prior to ovulation to allow for the release of the healthiest sperms.

Ways to Have Sexual Intercourse: In addition to knowing your ovulation cycle and having sex at the right time, you should understand that there are some sexual positions and penetration techniques that you could try to have a boy baby. It is said that deep penetration during sex will release the sperm as close as possible to the egg.

Lower Acidic Conditions: A woman’s vaginal environment is very acidic and this can destroy weak sperms. This is something to be aware of when you want to have a boy. You can get your vagina’s pH level and acid content tested with pH strips to know if it is too high. If the test shows that it is highly acidic, you can use certain methods to help lower it and enable sperms to survive for longer. One of the ways to do is to make some changes to your diet to make it less acidic.

Eat Right: This is one of the most important tips on how to conceive a boy because diet and nutrition plays a vital role in determining the baby’s gender. Studies show that women who eat healthy breakfasts and consume 2000 calories daily when trying to get pregnant will have higher chances to give birth to a boy.

In addition, a diet with large amounts of sodium and potassium will help you to have a boy baby. You can get these nutrients from banana, strawberries, and many other high-sodium foods.

Aside from those items, there is an old wives tale that eating a lot of red meat will help you to have a boy. In fact, there are many other tales about this, so you can decide whether or not you want to try any of them.

    I’ve been so confused on this whole timing of ovulation thing. (So sending a link wouldn’t help. I almost need a step by step process) My periods have been decently regular, my cycles have been about 30-40 days long.
    I really want to have a baby boy . So do I have sex during or after ovulation ?? (After) I think that’s what I’ve read? Also if I take an ovulation test, should have I have sex if I get a regular smiley face or a flashing smiley face ?? To have a boy ? I believe my ovulation days would be around the 14-20th day of my cycle??

      Hi there Emily, in order to try to conceive a baby boy you need to know the exact time when you are ovulating. Once you know this, you need to make sure that you are having sexual intercourse on that day or the day after in order to increase your chances of getting pregnant with a boy. Another tip is that you should not have sex two to three days prior to ovulation to allow for the release of the healthiest sperms from your partner. All the best.

    Hi… I am 26 year. The last time I menstruated was on 1st of may, and it ended on 4th of may. My fertile window starts from 9th may to 12th may. I had unprotected sex with my husband on 8th may and had another unprotected sex on 12th may(my most fertile day). My period is 5 days late, which has never happened before, because my menstrual cycle is 26 day and very regular. My pregnancy test is positive but I want to know if my baby will be a boy or a girl, judging from the day of my conception. Please, help me to gain clarity on this. I hope to hear from you, soon.
