Most women are not aware of this, but it is actually possible to know about your health from your menstrual cycle. If you are tracking your cycles, you can understand ovulation times, what is normal for you and identify major changes such as unpredictable bleeding or missed periods. For the purpose of this article, we will look at the differences between long and short menstrual cycle. First and foremost, you should know that every woman’s cycle is unique so it is difficult to say what is normal. For instance, a normal menstrual cycle can be as long as forty days

Hello my name is porscha and i went from having a 3-4 day period to my first 7 day period in years. It was very irregular when i had my daughter to the point i didnt know i was pregnant and the test always came back negative idk what to do or think. It started on 12/29/17 and ended today 1/6/17. Would my body be getting back to normal ?
Hi Porscha. It could very well be that your body is adjusting back to normal, but your body could be adjusting to changing hormone levels in your body. Sometimes the first periods can be longer and heavier than usual and go back to normal after a bit. Just remember that even if it isn’t regular you could still be ovulating so ensure to use some form of birth control if you aren’t looking to have another one. Also track your periods to see what the trend is ongoing.

Bonjour, my period usually only lasts for 4 days, but it has switched from 5-6 days. We are preparing to move out of the country and I’m not exactly looking forward to moving. I play sports year round and this year my ankle has been taking quite a toll on me, so this summer I have been sitting around doing nothing. Could this have something to do with my longer periods? Should I be worried about my periods elongating
Hello there Nadia, the question you are asking is unclear. However based on my understanding your period should not in a life devastating way affect your ankle.
Hello my name is Sierra I am very worried I think I have a 28 day cycle because in January I saw my period the 31 then February 28… now I am pregnant I had protected sex with someone one 7th of march and unprotected sex with my partner the 12,13,14, he ejaculated in me.. when I was suppose to be 10 weeks I went for an abdominal ultrasound and the sonographer told me I was 10 weeks and 6 days. I was worried so I went for and second opinion which was a transvaginal and it told me I was 10 and 5 days, I was happy because it matches! But now am just so worried I don’t know which one to believe, I am scared because my boyfriend would never forgive me if he knew what happened… even though I got a second opinion I am still worried help me please.

Hi I usually get my period every 28 days. when I was around 20 it was 7 days long then it went to 6 days around my thirtys. Now im in my 40s is that the reason for the 4-5 days or could it be something else Im concerned bec my doctor could not give me a definite answer? I dont know what the norm is really? I still wanted to have a baby but not sure if its possible the doctor told me im in the middle meaning 50% chance.? I have had alot of stress in my life I lost someone really close to me and he was sick for the past 3 years and it really hurt me to see him suffer and go through that. I just wish I could get my body back to normal? I don’t know how?
Hello there Patty, very sorry to hear about all you have been through and the stress this has obviously put on you. Yes this happens for many women where as they age there cycle changes, however this does not have to be the reason, if your doctor is not concerned then that means nothing abnormal is suspected. Once you are still ovulating then conception should still be a green light for you. See link below on how to conceive. All the best:
